First kick-off to Year 2013

This is the first day of 2013. To kick-off the year, my craft is featured in the DIY section of Majalah Remaja - 1st Jan 2013 issue.The craft that I have shown in this magazine is the usage of Fabric paint on a bag. There will be many "first" to come.Stay tuned.

Goodbye 2012 and Hello 2013

Today is the last day of 2012. Time flew so fast. As for me, this year has been fairly good and full of adventure in cake making and decorating. It has been quite an accomplishment in learning to bake 16 different cakes, pastries, sweet buns, macaroons as well as decorating cakes with butter cream icing, royal icing and fondant......enough knowledge and experience to start a business in bakery...hahaha!!!. Some of my customers were quite concerned that I may changed the shop to a Cafe...Hahaha!!!. Well I don't know what I am going to do with the knowledge that I have acquired but you will noticed soon. As it is, I have already start teaching Cake painting at the cake center.

Anyway, I would like to wished everyone a Happy 2013. Thank you so much to those who had spend the time learning from me and supporting my business. I will try my best to give you a better service then before this coming year. We have already added new selection of items for you to shop online, we will add soon new crafts for you to learn and who knows.. those who comes to learn from me will also get a taste of my homemade cakes....hahahaha!!!

Let us promise ourselves to take good care of our body and soul as well as our loved ones......

Two Elegant Trunk

I have been requested by the customer to paint these two trunks for her grand daughters. The choice of the background colour is made by the grand daughters. Since I am working on a tight budget, I decided to make the design simple and straight forward like having flowers (roses, daisies and lavender) at the corners only. Painting the background itself already took almost one full day. I think I'm growing old....I felt so tired after the task...hahaha!!!  Actually, there are lot more challenging design that can be done on this trunk but it would mean I have to spend a lot more time and the price will go higher of course. May be I will experiment it on another trunk. Currently I am doing another big item...just finished based coating it....I need a break after that laboring task.....hahaha!!!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Creative Cottage Shop is closed today Friday, 28/12/2012. We are open as usual this Saturday and Sunday.

Folk art cake painting class - daisies

Come and learn to paint Daisies on a Fondant covered cake this Sunday 30th December, 2012. Make it a day to remember as 2012 draws to a close. It will be at ICCA, Kota Damansara where you spend 2 hours learning and experiencing some thing new. Rm 200 per person with everything included. You just need to bring your own apron and kitchen towel.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays 2012

Acustomer had asked me to refurbished this Kitchen reminder board with something more personal as a Christmas present to her mother.

Flower pots and mugs for Christmas

You can painted up flower pots to make as hampers if you put some goodies into them. If you want to give a mug as Christmas gifts, have it hand painted to create a special one.

Decorative Candles and bottles for Christmas

These are some of the candles that I have decorated for customers who wanted to give away as presents for Christmas. Other than candles you can also paint up recycle bottles with Christmas motifs using enamel paints. If you are interested to get one or learn how to do, come and visit us at Amcorp Mall.  

Simple Gift For Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner. You still got time to do something for your gift like painting on gingerbread cookies using the food colouring and paint the plastic container with enamel paint to match it. It is a simple idea...you don't really have to make cookies...just buy them and you can use recycle plastic container to packed it......it is the sweet thoughts that counts.

By the way, we are open on Christmas day as usual. If you are not doing anything, then come and learn to paint.

Batik Painting can be fun

These two friends took time off from house work to come and spend painting batik. It is quite fun to do and the end result is magnificent if you do it following the technique.

Painting using enamel paint

Enamel paint can be used mainly on smooth surfaces like bottle, porcelain, glazed ceramics, tiles, mirror and plastics. These are some students who had done it on bottles and plate.

Singleton's Roses and Stargazer Lily on Cakes

Conducted the Advanced Folk Art Cake painting class recently with student painting Roses and Lily on a Cake. The Beginner level of cake painting workshop will be conducted again at ICCA on the 30th Dec 2012. Creative Cottage at Amcorp Mall will be closed on Sunday 2/12/2012 and will re-open on Monday as usual.

Here are old metal vase that I have re-painted with orchids and roses using acrylic paint.

Yellow roses on interesting item

Painting on an item that has interesting shape can be quite challenging especially if you are painting roses. The surface is shiny, curved and little spaces. Here I did an oil lamp and a kettle.

Decoupage workshop at WI- HQ PJ

A student painting poppies on a canvas shoes. These shoes were originally white in colour. By the way the shope Creative Cottage at Amcorp Mall will be closed on Sat 24/11/2012 and Sun 25/11/2012. It will be open again on Monday 26/11/2012.
