Chinese New Year Decorations

I have been busy the last few days painting some Chinese New Year Decorations. Painting small wooden lanterns proves to be a killer (sealing, basecoating, sandpapering, painting the details, varnishing.......20 little items) macam jari-jari sudah nak patah. Took me 3 days to complete the set. And I have yet to start on my Koi fish.

Nevertheless Amcorp Mall management has been good to play the Cheery Chinese New Year Songs through out the day to keep my spirits up ! ....hahaha

Tourist also paints

Last weekend I have the liberty of teaching a tourist from Finland who likes to experience painting on glass. Communicating is a bit of a problem as she knows very little English (she keeps on referring to her thick Dictionary for big words) but mind you, she writes poems and published it in her own language. Nevertheless she enjoys the painting, as she puts it in her own way "art is a therapy" for someone like her who had suffered depression for 12 years and healed herself through the natural way.....an interesting perspective about life which she shared it through her writings.

Newly Painted Birdhouse

Again I was commissioned to paint a group of birdhouses for a boutique. But this time I have used multiple techniques to decorate the Birdhouse. Dry brushing for the roof, Sandstone effect for the walls, and lots of shading and highlighting for the details. The tall birdhouse design look like a haunted house...hahaha.......perhaps Maya Karin lives there....heeheehee.......what an inspiration !!

Folk art is for women and men as well

Learning Folk Art as an activity on a weekend can be fun. Its also a test to see whether you have the ability to paint. Something that both men and and women can enjoy.

Young Talent

If you know that they have the interest and the talent in art irregardless of whether they are young girls or boys, why not give them a chance to experience the beauty of Folk Art techniques. At least they are involved in positive activity which they can use now or in their later part of life.
