1st coompleted project for 2013 - Turntable

I just completed this project after spending so many days painting it. This a huge lazy susan (turntable) belonging to a customer. Actually she send it to me for painting about two months ago but only now I managed to focus on it. Thus making it the first item I painted in 2013. As usual, the request is to have it look english and elegant.

1st photo shoot for Majalah Keluarga in 2013

This is the first photo shoot session that I did this year for Majalah Keluarga. It will appear in March issue and I did two items for the DIY section, mainly cake decorating and painted light bulb. They also take a lot of shots of my fake cakes that I had done for samples.

1st student and 1st painted item sold !

Yesterday was the first day of 2013 and I had conducted the 1st lesson in Folk Art for a student. A few of my former students came by for a visit and I was quite happy to see them again. Apart from that I managed to sell the first few painted items for the year 2013. What a good way to start the year.

First kick-off to Year 2013

This is the first day of 2013. To kick-off the year, my craft is featured in the DIY section of Majalah Remaja - 1st Jan 2013 issue.The craft that I have shown in this magazine is the usage of Fabric paint on a bag. There will be many "first" to come.Stay tuned.

Goodbye 2012 and Hello 2013

Today is the last day of 2012. Time flew so fast. As for me, this year has been fairly good and full of adventure in cake making and decorating. It has been quite an accomplishment in learning to bake 16 different cakes, pastries, sweet buns, macaroons as well as decorating cakes with butter cream icing, royal icing and fondant......enough knowledge and experience to start a business in bakery...hahaha!!!. Some of my customers were quite concerned that I may changed the shop to a Cafe...Hahaha!!!. Well I don't know what I am going to do with the knowledge that I have acquired but you will noticed soon. As it is, I have already start teaching Cake painting at the cake center.

Anyway, I would like to wished everyone a Happy 2013. Thank you so much to those who had spend the time learning from me and supporting my business. I will try my best to give you a better service then before this coming year. We have already added new selection of items for you to shop online, we will add soon new crafts for you to learn and who knows.. those who comes to learn from me will also get a taste of my homemade cakes....hahahaha!!!

Two Elegant Trunk

I have been requested by the customer to paint these two trunks for her grand daughters. The choice of the background colour is made by the grand daughters. Since I am working on a tight budget, I decided to make the design simple and straight forward like having flowers (roses, daisies and lavender) at the corners only. Painting the background itself already took almost one full day. I think I'm growing old....I felt so tired after the task...hahaha!!!  Actually, there are lot more challenging design that can be done on this trunk but it would mean I have to spend a lot more time and the price will go higher of course. May be I will experiment it on another trunk. Currently I am doing another big item...just finished based coating it....I need a break after that laboring task.....hahaha!!!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Creative Cottage Shop is closed today Friday, 28/12/2012. We are open as usual this Saturday and Sunday.
