Cake Decor for CNY

When I started to design this decor cake for the customer it was only for a single cake but she insist that it should be a two tiered cake that will look grand at the center of the dining table. It does look a bit heavy with too much going on but as long as the customer is happy, I just go along with it.

Gift for newly born

I did this carrier for my sister's newly born grandson as a gift wherby I can put some goodies in it like a hamper example baby's shampoo, lotion, powder, soap, towel, socks and mittens. Something that the mother can keep. It can also be used to put little toys and children story books etc. Very handy gift.

Painted Pizza Pan

A friend of mine had given me these two old rusted pizza pans months ago.At that time I don't really know what to do with it. .But since I had renovated my kitchen recently, I decided to paint something that can inspire me to bake. These will be just perfect to hang in the new kitchen. Originally I don't really want to hang any decorative items since I want the kitchen to be fully  functional and practical rather than just a showroom for my painting hahaha!!!

My cake painting class at ICCA

Yesterday I had the opportunity to teach folk art cake painting class at ICCA Kota Damansara. This is the beginning level where students get to paint daisies on the fondant covered cake using  the edible paint. Everyone is very enthusiastic about it as it is a new experience for all of them. Roses theme

Here are some of the painting that I did with Roses theme. This flowers has been a favourite to many people throughout the years that I have been painting. Sometimes it is nice to have different combination of background color to match the pink roses.

Folk Art cake Painting Class on 20/1/2013

Folk Art  cake Painting Class (Daisies) - beginner level will be held at ICCA on Sunday 20th Jan 2013 (10 am - 12 pm). If you are interested to join call 03-6140 8835 we still have vacant places. The price include materials and tools. You will learn the basic brushstroke technique in Folk Art and applying it to the fondant covered dummy cake.

Simple little things

Whenever I have time in between teaching I like to do something quick and simple. And most of the time they are items that I have kept for quite awhile to wait for the moment that I have the inspiration to paint. Like the sea shells door stoppers, I kept them for more than two years....and only now I took it out to paint....in fact I almost forgot that I had them.. Like everyone else I do have my moods too. If I am in the "rajin mood" I will keep on going without stopping for a bite...I will be totally lost in my own world.

Well looks like most of my craft has been featured in the DIY section of many magazines this February 2013 issues..Majalah Remaja, Majalah Apartmen and latest addition is Majalah Rasa and Majalah Keluarga. Hope all these efforts will bring awareness towards my craft, shop and skills...

Photo Shoot with Majalah Apartmen

Yesterday I had the opportunity to have another photo shoot session with Majalah Apartmen again. This time for the upcoming issue April-June 2013. It will be in the concept of decorative items relating to children.

Decor Drama in Latest Majalah Apartmen

If you buy Majalah Apartmen (Jan-March) issue you will find a section on Decor Drama. A short story revolving around decorative items. A very interesting concept of writing about decorative items in a drama. In this drama there is also mentioning of the visits to Creative Cottage. Pictures of my painted items are also  incorporated with tips of what you can do with the items. Kudos to the editor who came up with a brilliant idea of creative writing. An Interior Decor Magazine that is so different from others.

Nail art

It is a trend now incorporating Folk Art into the Nail painting. This is the first time I had taken photo of my students feet. She had paint daisies that she learn from me to her nails on her feet. Very innovative and she tells me that she is going for a competition on Nail Art this year. Thus Folk Art technique is versatile. You can paint it anywhere as long as you know what paint to use.

The gift for the world President of WI

I was asked by the Women Institute to do this piece of gift for their World President.. It is a round glass vase which I have turn it into a vintage porcelain vase. It looks quite elegant with crackling all round and dabs of gold.

1st coompleted project for 2013 - Turntable

I just completed this project after spending so many days painting it. This a huge lazy susan (turntable) belonging to a customer. Actually she send it to me for painting about two months ago but only now I managed to focus on it. Thus making it the first item I painted in 2013. As usual, the request is to have it look english and elegant.

1st photo shoot for Majalah Keluarga in 2013

This is the first photo shoot session that I did this year for Majalah Keluarga. It will appear in March issue and I did two items for the DIY section, mainly cake decorating and painted light bulb. They also take a lot of shots of my fake cakes that I had done for samples.

1st student and 1st painted item sold !

Yesterday was the first day of 2013 and I had conducted the 1st lesson in Folk Art for a student. A few of my former students came by for a visit and I was quite happy to see them again. Apart from that I managed to sell the first few painted items for the year 2013. What a good way to start the year.
