Painted peony on canvas

I have started to paint on canvas again. This time I have chosen the red peony as a subject. It is quite fun to do on canvas as less preparation of surface is required. The technique used is mainly shading and highlighting. Yesterday I did a free demo and promote my book at the International Book Festival in PWTC. Those who came and watch, thanks a lot for your time. I had fun doing it.

Norwegian Folk art Design (Rosmaling)

When you are painting something that requires detail work like this Norwegian Folk art design you need to focus. I have been painting this piece for quite awhile due to so much interruptions it has gone unfinished from week to week. Finally I finished it yesterday.

By the way, The Russian Folk Art workshop in Ipoh which was scheduled tis weekend has been postponed to the next Sunday 6th May, 2012. Those interested can call me up for details.

This is to remind ypu that I will be conducting a Russian Folk Art (Zhostovo) Workshop at the Hill City Hotel, Ipoh, Perak on the 29th April, 2012 (Sunday). The workshop will be from 10.00 am - 4.30 pm. Those who had done folk art or uses filbert brush before are welcome to join but for new students who wants to learn Folk Art can also join but they will be doing lessons for beginners i.e daisies and roses. Also to inform you that I will be conducting a free demonstration at PWTC for the Book Fair on the 28th April, 2012 at 1.00 pm. All are invited to come.

Handpainted Cupcakes

I made these cupcakes and decided to have it painted up with daisies. The colour of the fondant is not really to my liking but it was a left over from the wedding cake that I had made previously. It turns out quite cute.

Everyone has their own interest

These are some of my regular students who came to learn to paint various design. Some likes doing scenery whilst others are more to flowers and animals. I presumed everyone has their own interest as long as it makes them happy painting it.

A teenager learning Zhostovo

This student used to learn painting from me when he was 12 years old but he had stopped painting for a few years to concentrate on his PMR and SPM. But now he is on his break from college and decided to learn painting again doing Russian Folk Art (Zhostovo) on a large wooden chest. He did quite a good job with it despite being just a teenager.

More people near and far get involved in Art

Here are some students from various places including a visitor from Thailand who had learned to paint on various surfaces. Most of them had the intentions to learn to paint for such a long time. Only now that they had the opportunity to try out and of course they enjoyed it. It does not matter whether you have the talent or not as long as you have the interest and willing to make time for it.

Norwegian Folk Art - Rosmaling

This is a student learning the Advanced technique of Norway traditional folk art design - Rosmaling. It is quite a tedious process in which you have to use a lot of brush stroke technique. Majority of the painting is using the filbert brush.

Majalah Keluarga photo shoot

Recently I had a photo shoot with Majalah Keluarga for their upcoming pre-Hari raya issue. The theme is to paint various jars for Kuih Raya. So I did this four different jars using different techniques and paints to get different effects for each. If you interested with the details wait for it to come out. May be for June 2012 issue.
