FA Workshop in Ipoh Again

I will be conducting the Folk Art Workshop in Ipoh again on the 8th May, 2011 (Sunday). This will be in the usual place i.e. Hill City Hotel, Ipoh. The time will be between 9.30 am - 4.30 pm. Those attended will learn to paint Still Life - Kitchen things. We will cover basecoating, shading, highlighting, dry brushing and stippling technique. Also need to inform that on the 30th April 2011 (Saturday), I will be conducting FA workshop for beginners at Carlton Hotel, Seremban between 10 am - 4.30 pm.

Portrait for Birthday

A customer had asked me to do something with the photo of her daughter as a birthday gift. I have decided to mount the picture on a canvas and using several technique to decorate around it. I used texture paste and stencils as well as did some folk art painting on it. It turns out quite well. Very authentic look. I am quite pleased with the result and so is the customer.

Still life by two students

These two students have opted to paint Still Life from the kithcen series. They had done these projects in two lessons and there will be more kitchen things to paint by these ladies in the near future.

The Bird Lady is back!!

This student who loves birds is painting again after a few months break. This time around she is painting Flamingos on yet another stool. Plenty of stools to paint and more birds to come. All these paintings are based from the pictures in her big bird book.

Ipoh workshop - 17/4/2011

Yesterday I had the opportunity to teach Folk Art with a group of students in Ipoh. Everyone had a fun time painting bears and thanks to one of the students who brought a homemade chocolates for us ..."sedap giler!"....next time can bring some more.

Speaking of that, we will have a workshop again in Ipoh on the 8th May, 2011 (Sunday) to paint Still Life. Those interested can call me for details. Will update later on the sample.

FA workshop in Sg. Petani

Signage with a heart

Really like doing this signage because of the shape of the plaque. Painting chocolates, cupcakes and jellies sometimes make your saliva drops.

Photoshoot for Majalah Keluarga

I had the opportunity to do a DIY photoshoot session again with Majalah Keluarga last Wednesday. This time around I did 4 different types of crafts showing what you can do with Art Rubber stamps and mirrors. If you want to know the details of how it is done, just wait for the coming issues.

What's your problem ?

Today I saw one of my students was a guest in MHI-TV3. Somehow or rather it was coincidental that I turned on the TV and saw her mother being interviewed. It's great to know that she had finally launched her book titled "What's your problem ?". Whenever she got a chance to come and learn painting from me, we always exchanged views about art and life in general. A very high-spirited young lady who has no problem in being an OKU. If you see the book at the local bookstore , please buy it because who knows you may learn something from a teenage OKU.

Calender for the loved one

I felt very much appreciated when a young guy willing to impart his hard earned cash which he had saved solely to buy this painted calender for someone he loved. Painting this perpetual calender was not an easy task. It has wood grain effect as the background and those little details that you need to paint takes you forever to finish. Nevertheless, knowing that it will go to someone who appreciates it makes me happy.

A Bollywood princess

This goose door stopper has been painted with the Ros Singleton's Roses again. It makes the goose look very elegant like a Bollywood princess.......hahaha!!

Anyway I used the same formula again by playing Ronan Keating's songs in the background for inspiration and obviously it works for me.

Another Ros Singleton's Roses project done on a cake stand. This time the approach is different.

Sometimes the environment and the mood that you are in, does influenced the attitude towards your painting. As most people say, every picture tells a story.

I was doing this project with an open heart and open mind coupled with Ronan Keating singing Burt Bacharach songs ....what can I say....everything I do "menjadi-lah".

I was so inspired by it that I finished this project in such a short time. Hmmm...must play these songs often enough to be more productive......hahaha!!

Ros Singleton's Tissue Box Cover

I have painted roses on this curvy Tissue Box cover using the Ros Singleton's paintig technique. As a result, the finishing is nice because it makes it look very vintage .....an old-fashioned english tissue box cover. The placement of the design is also important. It must not make it look too overwhelming.
